It can be easy to prepare your garden for perennial garden. Use your spade to slice chunks of turf up, turn the turf over, then spread the area with approximately three inches of wood chips. Let the area sit for a fortnight, then begin digging into it and planting your new perennials.

Prepare them all ahead of time and have them handy before you need to garden, and put them away nicely when you are done. If you put the dog outside, pluck a few weeds while your dog is taking care of his business.

When maintaining your organic garden, try ruffling seedlings using your hands or cardboard one or two times daily. It sounds weird, but there is actually proven research that shows this helps the plants grow.

Fill the jar up with beer within one inch of the top. The beer helps attract slugs and they will become trapped.

Create raised beds with stone, bricks or untreated wood. Choose a wood that is naturally resistant to rot and is untreated. Some good choices include locust, cypress, and cypress. In a veggie garden, avoid using treated wood to enclose or demarcate different sections of your vegetable garden. If the ground cover you’ve used already contained treated lumber, line it with some plastic and replace the soil near it.

Adjust your watering according to season and climate. For instance, if your climate is humid and warm, humid climate watering the leaves can cause leaf fungus.

When you are buying seedlings for tomatoes, avoid the ones with a bad root system or green starts. These starts will stick to the seedlings for quite some time, inhibiting their growth.

If you want to consistently grow healthy tomatoes, try planting a new set of tomatoes exactly three weeks after you plant the first batch. This way you a steady supply to tomatoes and reduce an overabundance at any given time.

You must be sure to mulch to your garden and flowerbed with about three inches of organic material. This affects your garden in a variety of ways, holding in moisture levels, inhibiting the growth of unsightly weeds, and improving the overall appearance of the garden.

Think about any product you can use in your garden. Try to use natural alternatives instead of the chemicals you normally use. A good example is to use compost.

This tip greatly eases your organic gardening easier. Plan out the landscaping with mainly native bushes, flowers, and bushes! If you select plants able to thrive in your climate, weather requirements and plant interaction, you won’t need to do as much work to get the plants to coexist peacefully. Native plants will thrive with organically made compost.
